Vision + Fundraising Skills = Being A Professional Filmmaker
Here at Filmmaker Success, we do a lot of work visioning. Having a vision is a pre-requisite to allowing - or achieving - anything we want in life. Famous books such as Dale Carnegie’s “Think And Grow Rich” are all about creating a vision of what you want. Abraham-Hicks teaches the Law of Attraction and you can watch thousands of hours of their teachings on YouTube. What we think, we attract. What we believe, we create. If we believe we can make a feature film in 2025, then we are already closer to that goal than before we chose to believe.
What do you believe?
Do you believe you can make a feature film in 2025? If yes, what film do you want to make? What is your vision for making that film?
Do you believe that you can raise the money you need to make that feature film in 2025? And this is where so many filmmakers get stuck. They cannot see the path from their desire to make that film, and their need to raise money.
Some filmmakers get stuck at the place of “I believe, I believe. I believe in myself so I can do it!” But after many ‘No’s” they start to realize that belief alone is not enough.
Some filmmakers get stuck at the place of “I don’t need any money. I’ll get my friends to do favors and make it anyway.” Here at Filmmaker Success, we consider this a stuck place because filmmakers are using their vast creativity to do without what they really need to make the film at the level they wish.
Some filmmakers realize: “Wait a minute! I need to learn how to raise money to make my film. No one ever taught me to raise money. So I need to learn.”
Once filmmakers gain the skills to raise money to make their films in 2025, they can continue - rinse and repeat - to make more films, year after year. Once filmmakers have a road map to guide them to become skilled at fundraising, they develop the expertise to raise money for film after film.
Learning how to raise money is usually the missing skill filmmakers need to acquire to further their film careers.
